The table below gives a rough guide to the number of portions you can cut from square or round cakes of various sizes.
 
Fruit cakes are traditionally cut into 1 x 1 inch pieces (each cake is about 5 inches high) and sponge cakes (also about 5 nches high) are usually cut into 2 x 1 inch portions. If you are unsure, please err on the side of a bigger cake (you can always serve more generous portions to your guests!).
 
I am always happy to advise on cake sizes and suggest different ways to meet the demands of your design, party size and budget. Most customers just tell me how many people they want to feed, so feel free to do the same and simply get in touch!
